In the Meanwhile
Digital images, ink, graphite, and water color on paper, 8” x 10” x .25”, 2020

This work explores the aesthetics of typically banal and commonplace phenomena, as well as in the variation of ways which we may engage with them. In a sense, I have collected notation of things which seem unnoteworthy and compiled them into this book. Inside is a series of people, places, and things collected from my own day-to-day life during the roughly three-month period in which I was actively making the book. This work combines people, places, notes, objects, sketchbook pages, snippets of dialogue, thoughts, and word associations which we do not actively consider or that would likely be forgotten once their immediate moment has passed. As such, this work exists both as an aesthetic object that one can hope to find pleasure in reading and as an acknowledgment, elevation, and documentation of a short period of my own life and the complexity and aesthetic value of its overlooked elements.
