Avoid a Meltdown! Stop Global Warming

Major: DMDE

Materials: Photoshop and Illustrator

My current work focuses on a subject dear to me, one that is controversial: global warming and humans’ impact upon killing our planet. It wasn’t until a few years ago that this subject became important to me. Once I started seeing how rapidly it began to increase, I started taking measures in my own lifestyle to reduce my own contribution to global warming. From oil spills, land and water pollution to sheer ignorance among the human race, we are slowly killing Earth. With this work, I was hoping to shed light on this issue and bring about more awareness.

Because global warming can be a heavier topic, I decided to use a more cartoonish approach to a few of the ways in which we are contributing to global warming. My hope was that if my work had a more cartoon look rather than a photo realistic look, it would draw more attention to it and in turn bring about more awareness. It was important to me that each piece of this work could stand alone while conveying the same theme. Each piece revolves around global warming, however, they each focus on a different concern that mankind takes part in.
