Doll’s Dream
Digital 5000 x 4000 px
2020

This illustration is a self-portrait with some esoteric visual representations of my sense of identity and my struggles with art and art-making. I hope that a sense of my complexes and mindset can be understood from looking at the illustration, even if the viewer knows little about me.

I have had uncertain feelings towards being an artist. When I was younger I loved drawing and writing, but like many I initially chose to pursue a more traditional career. Deciding to study art instead was a difficult choice. Despite never feeling that it was a mistake, doubts about myself continue to distract and discourage me.  The process of making this illustration is the end of that, a time to let go of those doubts.

This is only a stepping stone in my path, a milestone from which I will grow. I leave my fears behind me, and look forward to a journey of improvement, discovery, and with the proper dedication and maybe a little bit of luck, achievement.
